When applying to Penn, students will have the option to indicate whether or not they want to submit SAT or ACT test scores to be included as a part of their application. If you choose to submit test scores, Penn will review any SAT or ACT scores that have been submitted. If you choose not to submit test scores, Penn will not use any submitted SAT or ACT scores in our review process.
Please see below for instructions on how to indicate your test-optional selection.
For applicants using the Common Application:
Navigate to My Colleges > University of Pennsylvania > Application > Questions > General. You will be asked to indicate your test-optional selection here.
For applicants using the Coalition Application:
Step 1: You will be asked in the Profile section under SAT/ACT if you have any scores you wish to report. You will indicate your SAT/ACT test-optional selection here.
Step 2: You will be asked in the Additional Tests section if you have any SAT Subject Test you wish to report. You will indicate your SAT Subject Test test-optional selection here. (Your answers for SAT/ACT and SAT Subject Tests should be the same.)
Step 3: Navigate to Application Questions > Test Optional Election. You will be asked to indicate your test optional selection here. If you self-reported your SAT, ACT, or SAT Subject Test scores on the Coalition Application before you reached Penn’s Test Optional Election section, you can return to the Profile section and change your answers in the SAT/ACT and Additional Tests sections before submitting your application.
For applicants using the QuestBridge Application:
